History
Weingut Adeneuer is the property of Marc Adeneuer, Frank Adeneuer, and Tim Adeneuer. The winemakers are Frank Adeneuer and Tim Adeneuer.
The Adeneuer family has been in the winemaking business for over 500 years. In 1984 two brothers, Frank Adeneuer and Marc Adeneuer took over the winery management.
In 1994 the winery became a member of VDP.
Frank Adeneuer’s son, Tim Adeneuer, has recently joined the business. Frank Adeneuer and Tim Adeneuer are responsible for the cellar and operations.
Approach
The parcels of Weingut Adeneuer are planted with three grape varieties: Spätburgunder (85 percent), Weißburgunder (9 percent), and Frühburgunder (6 percent).
The south-facing, steeply terraced Walporzheimer Gärkammer site (0.64 hectares) is one of the smallest individual sites in Germany, which is solely owned by the Adeneuer family winery since 1714. The other parcels are scattered across Ahrweiler Rosenthal (with various soil types from greywacke to loam to loess, loess loam and slate), Neuenahrer Sonnenberg (greywacke and greywacke slate with loam shares, loam, loess and loess loam), Walporzheimer Kräuterberg and Walporzheimer Alte Lay.
After cold maceration, the wines are fermented spontaneously and aged in the wood. The top wines are aged between 18 and 20 months in barriques. For the Spätburgunder trocken "J.J. Adeneuer No.1" only new barrels are used.
