Tasting Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes 2017 Robert Parker said: “The king of the cellar chez Coche this year is the 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes, a beautiful wine that unfurls in the glass with scents of white peach, oatmeal, spring flowers and subtle spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and satiny, with a deep, concentrated core, lovely purity and a bright, precise finish. This is a classic in the making that will reward cellaring.”
Julian Coche’s style is characterized by fruit aromas and medium to full-bodied texture.
History
1940
Julian Coche is a current winemaker of the Domaine Fabien Coche.
The domaine was founded in 1940 under its first name Coche-Bizouard.
In time, Julian Coche started producing excellent wines using a single-vineyard approach, having parcels across the Meursault appellation.
Approach
Certified organic since 2020
Domaine Fabien Coche uses age-old methods to make wine: vineyard work, ageing, bottling. Since 2020 the vineyard has been certified organic. The nature of the soil is respected and is one of the main concerns of the estate.
The soil varies across the vineyards: limestones, marl and clay can be found there. Grapes grown on these soils result in the creaminess of high-quality wines.
